was looking at DonorsChoose earlier for a work thing, and noticed a school in Philly with a teacher who wants to buy her students at a high poverty school a good selection of SF books to stimulate their interest in both reading and science.
Some of you might be interested in helping her out. When I have given through DonorsChoose in the past (I funded the purchase of a selection of YA Fantasy for a teacher in Florida about 3 years ago), I have gotten envelopes of drawings from the 8-12 year olds, who obviously knew my name (as each one said 'Thank you Stephanie' and had a drawing of their favourite part of the book ;-) ), etc. I've never given to a high school class, and can't afford to yet, but it might appeal to some of y'all.
